Speaking of transphobes being per formatively useless around women's sports (my last skeet), the author of the Harry Potter books is name-checked twice in my book on fan practices for language teaching and learning. Once is to mention why she isn't mentioned and once is in a student quote.

As an amateur female athlete (marathon runner), I'm deeply impressed by how Flavor Flav steps up to elevate women's sports in the US. This stands in contrast to the performative actions of transphobes and misogynists who act like banning and harassing trans women is doing anything useful.

As someone who grew up on (white) teen movies, I was struck by how much that Patel scene looked like something straight out of a spec script in the 1980s. The racialized minority over performing nationalism as white frat boys clearly broadcast to everyone but him that he is not really one of them.

How many fellow academics do like me - When you discover a scholar promotes really reprehensible stuff (e.g. transphobia, eugenics) or palls around with pedophiles and sex-trafickers, you remove them from your course syllabi and never cite them again in your own research?

Something I find very interesting about the Epstein files so far is which powerful, successful, and wealthy people are not being named. Were such people not corruptible/of use to a sex trafficker and pedophile?

Finally watched Kpop Demon Hunters yesterday while doing my long run on the treadmill. 5 stars! A great storyline and fun music that helped me pick up the pace when I was tired.
