When Pastor John Langenstein found out he’d been assigned North View UMC, everyone he talked to had the same response:

“Oh, you’re going to the egg church.”

Everybody acted like climate change was a big joke — and now we have tornadoes in West Virginia.

The slavery section of the National Museum of African-American History and Culture was one of the most heart-rending things I've seen in my life. I remain shaken by it. And I am immensely grateful for that experience.

There will never be healing in this nation until we reckon with our sins.

My latest radio story takes us to New Vrindaban, West Virginia.

It’s a Hare Krishna community in the state’s northern panhandle, best know for its opulent Palace of Gold.

But this story ain’t about that.

I went to see the kitchens of New Vrindaban.

Read the whole thing, but in short: when a judge issues a civil contempt order, law enforcement (in federal cases, the U.S. Marshalls) works for the courts and no one else.

At this point, there are only two options:

A) Elon is so dishonest that he is willing to peddle obvious lies to score PR points

B) Elon really is this stupid

just in time for Black History Month: "Freewater" — historical fiction about enslaved kids who escape to a community of fugitive slaves in the swamps. which is a thing that really happened! riveting read. alternating narrators with rich backstories. lots of action, with a big satisfying finale.
