The concept of scouring the internet sifting through livejournals and tumblrs and old forums and personal websites to find custom content proved to be a challenge for so many. Without patreon, twitter and instagram posts, so many modern simmers have no idea where to get mods for their game!!!

like watching all these sims 4 players try out 2 and 1 for the first time when EA re-released them and watching them just be completely totally lost on how to play it or make it something they wanna play was mind boggling. LIEK this is the biggest mod community ever? wdym you cant find any

part of the issue is EAxis dumbed itself down as well, I think most of the tech savy folks just aged out of enjoying this dumbed down version of the game, the amount of simmers who refuse to leave the sims 2 or 3 is i think testament to that. the community is split I think

like when the sims 4 launched I remember my first thought was "this looks like a fucking app game" and sure enough, the main demographic of kids coming into the game now grew up with like, ipad apps as their first gaming experiences

I think when we consider the franchise is like 25 years old, those of us who've been alive long enough to remember either the sims 1 or 2 launch and play it on our computers probably just like, have retained that OLD SCHOOL level of computer savvy bullshit
