The good news is that we enlisted some outside help to join us in this next episode!

Once you have a really good game it sinks its hooks into you. It started slow for me until I saw how fun it was to abuse Joker/Planet upgrade combinations to maximize your bonus.

Based on the sound I still think these would be the most likely culprits (if it's the monitor):

- flyback (can visually identify)
- blew a capacitor (usually can visually identify)
- shorted transistor (the bottle cap things on the metal chassis)
- spot killer (wouldn't explain sound though)

Gotcha.

You can see if it plays blind. Start the game & see if you hear game sounds. If so it is definitely a monitor issue.

Vector monitor repair requires a very specialized tech and will likely require you to discharge the tube & remove the chassis in order to ship for repair.

I'd suggest taking the back door off, pulling the white door post out (otherwise it won't turn on), and powering on the game. Look at monitor and see if you spot any arcing. You can turn off your room lights to help with this.

If not the monitor, see if you can pinpoint where sound is coming from.

Since there are no fans or moving parts on the boardsets the noise would most likely be a monitor issue. The only time I've experience that type of noise is when a flyback cracked and was arcing.
