Yes, any time I see firefighters and EMTs working I feel great about paying taxes. However, tax revenue is also rampantly wasted on things like corporate subsidies and unnecessary wars. So it's not a stretch to say that taxing me so that farmers can grow more corn for McDonalds might be theft.

Crude oil prices are already on the way up, which likely is why Putin commanded Trump to gin up this unnecessary Venezuelan conflict in the first place.

As much as I hate to admit it, the Instagram algorithm seems to really have me pegged in terms of retail products I might be interested in. Though sadly, I don't own a dog.

It might also spike oil prices to benefit Putin (who seems to be playing both sides of this situation).

Americans Show Consensus on Many Democracy-Related Matters A Kettering Foundation/Gallup survey finds most Americans support political compromise, view multiculturalism as a strength and reject political violence.

Maybe we're not as divided as we think we are and it is just that those differences are being amplified (for profit) by big tech and their algorithms.

While I confess that I checked out this movie just to see the recreated Overlook Hotel sets, I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually an interesting story and a fun ride.

Considering that China has nearly 1,200 coal burning power stations, and has added 21GW of new coal power this year alone (a ten year high for coal power growth) I'd be curious to take a closer look at the math that supports this story.

It was quite a bit more complicated than that. It didn't help that Reza Shah was sitting on massive amounts of oil while also being a little too cozy for comfort with the Nazis. Of course it was the British who found oil in Persia in the first place so there are multiple tendrils of culpability.

China brought 21 gigawatts of new coal power plants online in 2025 alone, and now has nearly 1,200 total in Mainland China. So those β€œimplications” need to sink in faster.
