solid mechanics was never my strong suit lol. but the phenomenon is readily observed without the need for a calculator. you can tell when shit is fucked.

this leads to material failure (ripping, or delamination from zipper cloth etc). this can be minimized through traditional stress concentration management measures (we hate corners). placing two unconnected zippers near each other creates a particularly nasty stress region between them.

so ill call it "reinforced" instead. reinforced latex does not stretch, creating stress concentrations in the surrounding unreinforced latex area. these areas experience irregular, high stress compared to other regions of latex- in summary, the garment stretches unequally across its area.

(also boning technically refers to rigid material like plastic covered w fabric, im referring more to twill tape type stuff here, idk what else to call it lol).

in this context, "boning" refers to strips of non-elastic fabric (usually cotton) attached to sections of latex, to add shape, provide strength, interface with hardware (buttons, zippers, rivets), or prevent stretching in sections. cont.

outtake: curious as to why my hair looked like that (and basically never has again)? sweat. lol. the AC was broken on set and my hair was trashed at the end of the shoot, so we improvised. We did some "post-gym" shots in the locker room set area, but they didn't make the final cut.
