Thanks for the offer but contractually there would be difficulties.

He did come to dislike Holmes it’s why he killed him to do the Challenger series which many people think are far better but the Victorian public disagreed and we know what happened next.

It was Valley of Fear for me a strangely enough when I was listening to Stephen Fry do the Complete Sherlock Holmes on Audible. I couldn’t have disagreed with Fry’s description of Valley of Fear more.

As a staunch defender of traditional and Canonical Holmes, there were a few instances where I was tossed out of the story – such as references to messages sent to and received by space aliens, and a government agency devised to handle that – but nearly all the rest of the book colored within the lines, providing a solid investigation that could have been the basis of a Basil Rathbone film.
