Amazon just announced 14,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $40M last year.
UPS announced 48,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $24M last year.
Intel announced 20,000 layoffs. Its new CEO's pay package is valued at nearly $69M.
This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

A local development (and no, this is not the world I live in).
Two things:
Look at that two-storey gable window (which I think I like, though it offers a magnificent vista only of the side of the neighbour's wall), and
Just how big was the garden of the original house.
I do my best to be green. Was going to buy the "if you care" foil - except it costs just short of FOUR times the regular stuff.
25.10.2025 15:00 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'll have to give that a try.
Strange thing is, for reasons I don't understand, I more or less stopped reading short stories a long time ago. I did read Barry's most recent, and enjoyed it. When I was younger I read many. (I even had a couple published.)
Quite late to this (came out nearly two years ago) - but my God, what a stunner. Not a loose sentence, smilies that snap like fresh elastic, dialogue that would please Elmore Leonard. The equal to Kevin Barry.
Funny, moving, characters I cared about. I could see a sequel.
