Finished the quilt top, then it took me a month to get a picture. 😅 Pattern is Friendship Plaid from the book “Quilting for Joy,” which I inherited from my grandmother. Fabric is mostly “Snuggle Season” from Lewis & Irene.

Don’t mind me over here, a soprano who has performed this piece, working out the appropriate note placement of lyrics for the lines to follow “and saying…” I think the addition of “For the Love of God” in place of “Glory to God” would work stylistically… 🤣

Before washing: two antique, age-stained quilts with a light background and diamond-paned stars of various colors.

First quilt on its first soak in the bathtub: water is brown, and smells as bad as it looks.

First quilt drying on the deck in the bright sunshine, reveals a much brighter & whiter background and the variety of colors in the stars have held up, other than one blue star which needs careful repair work. The binding and backing are actually supposed to be yellow! 🤣

The second quilt, in worse shape (though still reasonably solid for its age). Its design of a larger lone star and many of its surrounding stars are missing large pieces of fabric, and many rusty stains remain. It still looks much brighter and smells much better than before.

Made use of the heatwave of the last few days to wash & dry two antique quilts that belonged to my grandmother. Both quilts look and smell much better now. 😅
