I know people who have been prescribed it because they are literally diabetic, but their good insurance will not cover it.

The highlight of my weekend (not a high bar) was hearing this NPR newscaster rhapsodize over the rediscovery of a long-lost early robot film by the "pioneering 19th C French filmmaker Jorjis Malia." πŸ€–πŸŽžοΈ

We're never getting old Twitter back. Most of those people have moved to Insta, Substack, Threads, etc. And posting about humanities has zero reach here. I make lists of people to follow, which helps. But lists don't show RTs, so there's no way to discover accounts you're not already following.

They just lie and take and break and kill.

It's all they do. We're past arguing if the ends justify the means. Their only end goal is MORE MORE MORE.

With Venezuela and Iran, the President has normalized one country removing the leader of another whenever they like and because they can, with no reason, no wrong or harm suffered to justify it.

It strikes me that the world is far more dangerous now with this as a new normal for nations.

The slick, wet look sequins used in the creation of this mid #1920s evening dress are made from cellophane. For over 30 years, sisters Anna & Laura Tirocchi brought European style over America in their Providence RI shop. This is one of their choices #RISDMuseum #FashionHistory πŸ—ƒοΈπŸͺ‘

I feel like I've gotten quieter about issues like war with age. It's not that I'm more conservative. The opposite. It's just that I've been screaming about the same goddamn thing for 50 years. They don't listen to me. They know it's wrong, and they don't care. I'm saving my voice for those who do.

nothing they do makes any sense unless you focus on the fact that they have nothing approaching a belief or policy or worldview except a wish for their revolving door of perceived β€˜enemies’ to suffer + a total lack of regard for human life. and then everything they do makes sense.

The world could be such a nice place if we allowed it. It's all so goddamn unnecessary. There's no need for any of it. It's so beautiful here. It should be so cool to be alive

Would be interesting to know what Northwestern Medicine thinks about paying rent to folks who run concentration camps.

I find the antiquity of these stations deeply charming. Wildflowers grow up through the tracks. The entrances are diminutive, discreet, quiet. The elevated platforms are like walking a plank. The concrete stairs are sloped and concave from wear. But they do need an elevator or something.

Glad to see the bane of my existence acknowledged in print. It's not just an issue for people with disabilities. Carrying luggage or groceries? Elderly? Wearing fancy heels? The stairs in these stations will have you fighting for your life. Not to mention the handrail that starts at calf-height.

I am happy that Chicago's history of hired goons threatening violence and retribution for not supporting the chosen candidate is so far gone from recent memory that people are begging progressives to fall in line behind One Chosen Candidate. The public is crying out for someone someone sent!

26.02.2026 21:52 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

It's frustrating, but people tend to forget how young & ad hoc a lot of progressive orgs are in Chicago. Too many progressives in one race is a newer problem. Also, people complain when rank and file party members coalesce around one candidate, and then complain when grassroots leftists don't.
