Sabres captain Rasmus Dahlin after the loss to the Avalanche dropped the Sabres to 0-3: "We have to get out of this bullshit."

The Sabres lose to the Avalanche 3-1. They get booed off the home ice as they fall to 0-3. Someone threw a jersey on the ice. They next play Wednesday at home against the Ottawa Senators.

Some pretty noticeable "Fire Adams" chants ringing through the crowd in Buffalo with the Sabres down 3-1 late. It is game three.

The play was offsides, so the Sabres are still down just 3-1.

Brutal turnover from Rasmus Dahlin leads to an Avalanche goal. Cale Makar scored. Alex Lyon got hung out to dry there. Avalanche up 2-1.

Tage Thompson beats Scott Wedgewood with a shot from just inside the blue line and gets the Sabres on the board. 1-1 game in Buffalo.

The Sabres' second power play unit is Owen Power, Ryan McLeod, Alex Tuch, Bowen Byram and Justin Danforth. Buffalo is 0-1 on the power play in this game and now 0-9 for the season.

Jack Quinn and Jiri Kulich have joined Tage Thompson, Jason Zucker and Rasmus Dahlin on Buffalo's top power play unit. Alex Tuch not on the top PP unit.

Nathan MacKinnon had way too much time and space, and predictably, makes the Sabres pay. Avalanche have an early 1-0 lead.

The Bruins get an empty netter with two seconds left. The Sabres are going to lose 3-1 and fall to 0-2. They return home for an afternoon game against the Avalanche on Monday.

With 10:14 to play in the third period, the Sabres have their first goal of the season. Jason Zucker's shot deflected off a Bruins defenseman and beats Swayman. Sabres down 2-1.

The Sabres are now down 2-0. A shot from the point deflected off Conor Timmins and got behind Alex Lyon.

The Sabres are down 1-0 to the Bruins at the first intermission. Considering the 16-1 advantage Boston had in shots, that could have been worse. The Bruins had a 35-10 advantage in shot attempts, too.

And it's now 1-0 Bruins. Pavel Zacha on a one-timer. That felt inevitable the way this period was going for the Sabres.

The Bruins are outshooting the Sabres 14-1 in the first period, but the game is still scoreless thanks to Alex Lyon. He's keeping Buffalo in the game early just like he did on opening night.
