Comic artist, perpetual worrier. Author of the webcomic "Anecdote". I exist in a strange netherworld between cynical and easily shocked. #artist #comics #webcomics #illustration

But WHY. What is their justification? What is their rationalization? Fetterman…whatever. He’s damaged. But the others? What REASON do they have? They do not need to do this. Politically it will earn them nothing. And it is morally indefensible.

Why.

What’s the context for this? I love it.

Nice!

Trump, and the widespread admiration/veneration of him, has forever altered my previous understanding of what β€œadulthood” means.

Ah, so THIS is that (yet another!) new revival I heard was happening. As heartwarming as it is that this universe is still alive after all (after 2017 I was sure the book would be closed forever on the β€˜87 version), I think it’s awkward that the entire Joe Books run is (I assume) being ignored.

Which WAS the joke in the cartoons. πŸ˜† He’s obviously a western bandit, but incongruously playing all these other roles.
Having him actually BE a pirate as his default setting β€” honestly? β€” it’s so dumb and so β€œmissing the joke” that it almost feels insulting to the kids reading.

A name!

Oh, really? LOL. They have that look I associate with β€œpublished in Europe first”. I’ve really fallen out of touch with the scene.

Yosemite Sam the pirate. For some reason, that was his default identity for years. Friz Freleng was probably inadvertently referencing these comics when he once expressed puzzlement that β€œeveryone seems to remember him as a pirate”. (He thought it was because of his three pirate shorts.)

Boy, that Scrooge page β€” I have a Whitman issue from 1980 that looks like that same artist. Whoever it was …argh. Just so unappetizing.

I wonder when the WB characters stopped being required to have β€œβ„’οΈβ€ after their every mention. πŸ˜†

So what’s this? Very recent European DuckTales revival comic?

I mean…spending actual time and effort on that….

Ah. I guess I should have known it was the β€˜50s and not the β€˜70s by the nice inking and relatively energetic posing.
The β€˜70s comics I’ve seen actually aren’t as lifeless and wooden as most LT/MM official imagery was then, but they were definitely inferior to this.

Rush Limbaugh fan art….?

….

….

I’m almost afraid to ask, but was it anywhere near as weird as Ben Garrison’s pro-Trump cartoons?

Man. I trailed off eons ago, but I have very cozy memories of being in the campus computer labs in the middle of the night in like 2003 (where I wasn’t supposed to be πŸ™‚) binging Gene Catlow.
I’m not even very deep in these circles, and I still clearly remember how sad people were when he died.

25.02.2026 03:33 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Never heard of him. Had to look him up. It’s always jarring when very cute and/or pretty art comes from a mind choked with rage, or hate. What kind of stuff did he used to say to you guys? Standard pre-maga boilerplate? Homophobia? Bible-thumping? (I’m gonna guess he wasn’t preaching trickle-down.)

25.02.2026 03:29 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Well, even on that silly tabletop perch with those itty-bitty legs, this guy manages to look more dignified than that humanoid thing we’re speaking of.

Iβ€˜m not joking; I don’t know how he does it, but he manages to look ridiculous no matter what he does. Even just signing a document at his desk!

No idea who she is.

Any guesses who the animator was?

24.02.2026 06:17 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Serious question β€” are there any public figures with gelled-back hair who AREN’T known for being slick at best (Newsom) and sociopathic sleazebags at worst (Don Jr. and Eric)?

So is Bugs taking advantage of this situation to torment him, or is he actually trying to help?

I’m not too familiar with these 1970s LT/MM comics. I do know Bugs was sometimes depicted as a ne’er-do-well loser, Sylvester was a Cockney (!?!), and Daffy never became the Jones/Maltese greedhead.

24.02.2026 05:39 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I want to know some specific names of people you have in mind. Every time I see this point raised, things rarely get specific. So I have no idea what β€œspreading misinformation about Democratsβ€œ means to you or others who take this tack. Who are some of the key voices/commentators you’re pointing to?

24.02.2026 05:03 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I suspected as much.

But I was willing to listen because the accusation seemed too pointed, too specific, and honestly, too angrily PERSONAL to have just been hallucinated or made up out of thin air.

But people really are freaking crazy.

Can’t you get into specifics? You obviously feel strongly about something neither of us have seen examples of. Maybe we would agree with you if you explained to us what the issue is.

I’m grateful than there was a Michael Sporn, and that he somehow managed to keep the lights on at his tiny little boutique shop for decades. I don’t really understand how he did it, and it makes me sad that it’s even less possible now.
There’s just nobody to fill that space he left.

No serious person bashes the Dems for what the GOP does. Anyone doing that is just a political illiterate.

Much of the criticism the Dems get is in regards to their incompetence at sheer POLITICS. Their tactical and rhetorical ineptitude in the face of a fascist blitzkrieg.
