It's been an amazing month of bird outings for me, including 5 birds I've never photographed before. But I'm going to pick this Great Egret, a bird I see nearly every day, as my favorite photo for February. He was just so beautiful.

#1 recommendation of the Ontario Coroner's 2025 report on e-bike deaths is for the Ministry of Transportation to clearly define e-bikes (distinct from e-motorcycles) as:

While the electric motorcycles masquerading as e-bikes are a problem, a much bigger problem is all the four wheel vehicles. The four wheel vehicles kill more people than two wheel vehicles, even if you allow for the variation in distance traveled.

100%. Local Council tends to blame individual micromobility users for injuries, not drivers who hit them or the lack of safe infrastructure.

With the explosion of micromobility including hybrids and customized devices, regulators are having difficulty keeping up. Speed and weight differentials are creating conflicts and safety concerns on shared infrastructure. Bans are the easy answer, but don't work.

A two person bike rides along the wet red brick street in front of a gated courtyard surrounded by two story houses built I’d guess in the 1700. This is a hofje which wealthy people built for unwed/widowed women since after the Protestant revolution you could no longer guild churches to show off your wealth. Plus, can’t have those unwed women running around loose!
