I’m a professor emeritus from the Community College of Baltimore County and former chair of the Baltimore Democratic Party. I am currently writing novels dealing with social issues and I’m the illustrator of a children’s book series.

It seems too many Americans are afraid of facts and data. So I am writing novels that deal with reproductive rights, gay marriage, mental health care, drug addiction, elder care, etc. My hope is that stories might help them understand suffering, costs, the domino effect, etc.

Born in the 1870s to former slaves, and overcoming multiple tragedies, she rose to alter the landscape of education for southern black children. Her teaching style is still in use in many places in the world.
