Ahaha, incredible. 🤣 Yeah, I was quite flabbergasted/impressed that these kids know the formal term (my own kiddo had not heard it before, but she apparently inferred the meaning)

I was kind of surprised to learn that the middle schoolers are 1) *that* aware of what’s happening in the news cycle, 2) going with the “it was a horse” theory instead of the Clinton one, and 3) polite enough to call it “fellatio”

This has been a year of many questions that I, as a parent, never anticipated having to answer.

Case in point: “Mom, why are the kids at my school saying that the president ‘performed fellatio on a horse’?”

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I’ve seen a lot of takes about her being deliberately disingenuous/playing some kind of long con and that’s not quite the vibe I’m getting? She’s terrible, but she doesn’t strike me as that… calculating.

I’ve been reading NYT articles from the 1890s for research, and it really feels like their standard of journalistic integrity has come full circle since then.

Yeah, this is my feeling about the whole thing. I don’t trust MTG or fully understand what is motivating her current behavior, but it seems like a good thing no matter how you slice it.

I’m endlessly amused to learn that there was also some sort of elephant-shaped house of ill repute at the Moulin Rouge at around the same time. People in the late 19th c just really liked getting it on and/or doing drugs in elephants

TIL that a giant TERRIFYING ELEPHANT BUILDING used to dominate the Coney Island landscape in the late 1800s. It started as a hotel, very quickly became a brothel, and eventually burned down under mysterious circumstances. The dude who built it thought animal bldgs were the future of architecture.

This is a really tough decision for me, but I think it’s the right call. I have to remember that I can always return to the stories I’ve started. Sometimes they just need time to rest.

Due to an ongoing series of incredibly unfortunate events surrounding my publisher, I may need to shelve my current draft for now. 😞 But I have another project in the works that I’m starting to get excited about. Been chewing on it for a couple of years, but I *think* I’m actually cooking now!

Is it possible to develop dimples later in life when you didn’t have them before? Why didn’t anyone tell me this was a thing that can happen?
