We really picked out moments to sit deep and when to come out and press well tonight. Possibly a template for our away performances.

That was very enjoyable. We looked far more engaged and energetic for the most part than we have in weeks. Onyeka seemed to empower others to play aggressively. Rudoni and Wright excellent when we went more direct.

I hope the same but fear this may be another roulette selection

Think Lampard likes having Eccles further forward for his pressing, rather than skill. Would also say Torp is better with space in front of him, whereas if he's further forward, he has to play on the turn or into contact, which isn't his strength.

Grimes has been poor recently and so have the rest of the defence individually. Feels like they’re being hung out to dry a little, we leave so much space for them to have to try and defend.

Would have preferred Eccles to have started over BTA. Would have kept us tighter for much of the game and with a way to move through the gears later on.

I know Esse scored but I feel he’s really unsuited to starting tough away games like this.

That is not how you set up away from home against one of the form teams in the league.

Way too open in the middle, especially with a such a lack of effort through the team to track back.

A lot to work on.
