The conference CFP is now open for both general submission and our new undergrad-specific showcase. The whole conference runs fully virtual. Details below, but do reach out with any Qs:

a golden retriever sits and looks directly at the camera. a gigantic tree is in full, bright pink blooms that completely fills the top half of the frame. both the dog’s fur and the tree are shimmering a little in the sunlight. in a delightful coincidence, the dog’s tongue almost perfectly matches the blossoms behind her.
This is Maggie. She saw this tree blossoming into its true colors and thought of you. 13/10

Is this what it's like to be an area chair? Thanks for an excellent time in NOLA, @pcaaca.bsky.social! Looking forward to Atlanta 🫡

Surprisingly cold, potentially diseased, and everyone around instantly knows I'm a tourist, but I *had* to do it

But they've been doing so great this semester and there are a couple small online things going on this summer I think would work great. I feel like a real professor! Exciting 🤩

Anyway I have an interview next week I'm excited about but right now I just want to sleep
...but how awful that they instinctively assume they're going to get a bad response? How horrible is the academic institution as a whole that they've been primed to expect harsh punitive relationships with their professors? I want to stay so I can help change this but also man, this sucks

Idk man. This is why I do this, so that students have someone who is going to respond kindly and help them...

Signed, a person who somehow came up with "dear hello, I am sick and not sure if I'll be alive to come tomorrow and I'm sorry, best slutantions, [name]". User yay855: I mean, if someone wrote that to me, I'd probably believe they were sick. User rox-and-prose: "slutantions" has me crying laughing User hydro-punk: I once emailed my professor with a migraine. A mistake. "I amsick will not to choir because I have a heache. I hope its very and I am so sorry Love, Blue" The subject line was "OW" User xakumi: THE SUBJECT LINE IS THE BEST PART JSJFJSKDJS JUST IMAGINE GETTING AN EMAIL WITH NO CONTEXT OTHER THAN "OW" User womenlovewords: I once sent an email to a professor with the subject line: "Helo I am dying tofay." And the body of the message was just "head ow" The context was that I got a concussion, forgot that someone else had already told my professors I wasn't going to be in class, and decided I must send them my own message. I got replies to it telling me to go back to bed.
Should I derail a really irritating and pedantic discussion in my group chat's pedagogy channel by sharing this
