I did get quite the thrill that one time a HS kid said he forgot his free metro card and snuck in with me in one of them tall turnstiles.

I am a serious leftist.
hopefully not many Liberals (AUS).
they're so right wing!
what about Labor (AUS)?

one would think that at $4330 for a 500sqft 1 br, they could afford a few bike racks.
but alas.
you get me a parliament or proportional representation and i'll get you a multiparty system.

not cool 325 Lafayette!
plenty of room for some racks outside the starbucks and food emporium.
NYC-Montreal HSR when?!?!?

Sure. Far below world standards.
But I think it's notable that TO, Van and Mont have the 2nd. 3rd & 4th highest transit mode shares of cities in the two countries.
Oops. 77,565 / SQ mile.
Roughly 30,000/SQ KM.
There isn't a single SQ KM in both Germany and the UK as dense as NYC's 30th densest zip code.
We are a land of contrasts.
making more money means they aren't the least able to pay.

I believe that there are people this ignorant.
it doesn't mean they're right, just that people may in fact do this.
the healthcare subsidy cliff is another.
one we'd fixed, but then trump broke again.
there are a few instances where a small increase in compensation can result in a greater increase in tax liability.
NY Unincorporated business tax is one.
Federal and state income tax is not one.
the job didn't require the use of a personal vehicle. the moving company had their own moving trucks.

it was a long time ago but I was once not hired specifically because I didn't have a car.
the job was 4 miles away from my apt. directly abutting a bike path.
I know i'm not in the median american location (70,000 people / sq. mile) but I just walk to the corner.

especially annoying when transit drivers are the assholes.
mostly, I find they are pretty good with bikes - but I've had a few dicks.
still doesn't go downtown (but will).
hey, at least you've been to hawaii.
though, Honolulu now has a single line metro rail.

When I visited (staying with a friend of a friend) I was asked how I arrived. I said, "the subway".
"We have a subway here?"
Los Feliz being one of the few subway accessible neighborhoods at the time, it seemed like a huge plus to me.
It is the city with the second most transit riders in the US. As one would expect of our second largest city.

LA has its issues. (Like fighting upzoning... And some pretty weak bike infra, at least when I was last there in a year that began with 200)
Not building transit isn't one of them!
The big difference in Canada is your medium and large cities have FAR higher transit mode shares than comparable us cities.
The us has one big transit outlier, NYC.
