That gets dangerously close to mentioning China invading Vietnam, which is important to ignore

replace the California constitution with an assertion of parliamentary sovereignty. https://signal.me/#eu/l0xilq2pPjD/c746iENf6KNApNhIBMZ8bniWD7yZkQ6TSZcFl3BJaKpNf33aVb6k ๐Oakland, California.

11.08.2025 20:59 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0True though sometimes I think Long Island is considered rural enough for political punditry
11.08.2025 20:52 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Nothing but respect for true American rural areas (Inland Empire)
Tho what you're saying probably does legit hold for majority white areas as well.
Cosmopolitanism != elitism. The multiracial working class even in rural and suburban areas loves anime, Kpop, Mexican and Chinese food, cheap online shopping, Mexican beer, rap - and the America First will make everyone's lives worse in mundane ways because they don't get this.
11.08.2025 20:42 โ ๐ 17 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 4 ๐ 0The change in CS from 1975 to 2000 was just so much greater than 2000 to 2025. Maybe AI will mix stuff up, but so far not.
Imo Nursing programs incorporating on-the-job training into core curriculum is something CS could learn from.
yeah this plus historical contingency of CS coming out of universities rather than industry. Took IBM a while to figure out that programming was something valuable and not just a way to ship hardware lol.
11.08.2025 19:51 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I get what your saying but it's honestly kinda weird we teach programming as a BS and not a apprentice program. People don't have this hang up about the most locked down major, Nursing.

I do think old books are good to read precisely bc you can dig into the era they were written in, like that's the main appeal
the fact that it isn't the govt of redwood city only lends it credibility!
11.08.2025 19:40 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0we wouldn't have gerrymandering if he had a consensus commitment to a working civil society lmao. what problem are you trying to solve.
Single member districts are just terrible. At the moment gerrymandering is their biggest problem, but the way they block multiparty systems is also bad.
yeah plenty of examples to chose from that retain idiosyncratic districts ๐ a cool thing about party votes is that then there's no reason to not have actually-good districts, since gerrymandering doesn't really serve anyone
11.08.2025 18:48 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0why though, doesn't solve gerrymandering at all

It'd maybe make sense if the bus went on the ferry, or otherwise doing more Key System style quick transfers. The idea appears to be more like 10 people can drive to the marina and take a boat for fun.
I like the Vallejo idea since it'd be so disrespectful to Caltrans improving 37
