Are we really going there, are UK politicians really parroting the absolute nonsense - dangerous nonsense - being spouted by Trump and other US politicians? Paracetamol was invented in 1878 and has been *extensively* studied. Perhaps we should shine a light on who funds Reform?

I went through a new atheist phase at uni and even then I didn't trust Dawkins. I read "The God Delusion" and frankly it is shallow, reductionist and demonstrates Dawkins' total lack of understanding of religion or philosophy. Seems his view of the rest of the world is much the same.

Dawkins, as always, feels the need to write about subjects he doesn't understand and does so with the authority of someone who rejoices in their own ignorance and shallow understanding. He represents the problem with some academics: they think their degree entitles them to be experts on everything.

Mild-Disclaimer:I have ADHD. I'm not autistic and I am what you could call "high functioning" ADHD. What that translates as is that thanks to childhood social rejection and bullying I've become VERY good at masking my ADHD. Soo...yay?

Are there times when I wish I didn't have ADHD? Oh fuck yes! But they are often times when I am having to navigate a neurotypical world with a neurodivergent brain. Times when I am unsupported or having to do things I struggle with. 7/7

I can't speak for autistic people nor should I but as an ADHDer (and make no mistake the same eugenic language gets thrown at us too) I don't want to be cured, I want to be supported. I want to be accepted and loved for who I am not who you want me to be. 6/7

Even in cases where a person's condition means they are never going to have a "normal" life, why does that matter? That doesn't mean they can't be happy in their own way, on their own terms. Why is the neurotypical life the only one with value? 5/7

Instead of wasting time panicing about what causes autism, ADHD or other neurodivergences, perhaps we could instead focus on making the lives of neurodivergent people the best they can possibly be. To give them the support to live lives that are fulfilling and meaningful to them...4/7

..is deeply harmful and hurtful. We are not a disease. We are not defective products to be returned to the shop. Even someone who has high care needs is still a person, they are still a human being with an internal life. It may be different from yours but that doesn't make it invalid. 3/7

All the language around this is eradicationist, like being neurodivergent is a disease to be eliminated. It is dehumanising and frankly the language of eugenics. This language, this underlying assumption that autism (and by extension any neurodivergence) must be corrected, cured, or eradicated.. 2/7

Not going to engage with BS about tylenol/paracetamol. I don't need to. What's more interesting to me is the bigger question of why is it necessary to "prevent" autism, ADHD, and neurodivergence in the first place? Why the hysteria and panic about our children being neurodivergent? 1/7
