This is true for so many sports. The purely recreational option has ceased to exist (especially for kids last early elementary age.) Either they’re all-in on a competitive team, or there’s no participation at all.

In the South, it’s very common to use family names for the second part of the double name. Mother’s maiden name or paternal grandmother’s maiden name, etc.

I have gotten used (years of renovations and then a natural disaster) to hearing contractors swear endlessly. But nothing causes me to panic like sudden silence followed by a slow “Well… F*.” … Just terrifying.
