Seeing this happen a lot, though: deployment details creeping into a logical view of a system, clouding (pun intended) abstract reasoning about that system. Often in the earliest design/analysis phase already: “and here we’ll have a Lambda…”. A misconception of what “cloud-native” is about imo.

Re-read in this evening and what especially rings true is the observation that “the tools we train ourselves to use and in this respect programming languages […] shape our thinking habits”.

Really enjoyed myself at the Dutch FP Day today, which was, surprisingly perhaps, held in Belgium this year. Nice vibe, familiar faces, interesting talks, and engaging discussions during the breaks.
