obvious pitfalls aside, the devs who built this demo are vastly overestimating how much players like to read even immediately relevant dialogue. narrative designers minimize text to just the necessary parts so that the players don’t just skip all of the story.

Ovid kind of works in terms of a nested story structure that never resolves properly

The old covid enquiry is dying, and the new enquiry (the Reserve Bank one announced to fill the void of covid enquires) struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters.

Thanks for doing the reading, Marc.

NZTA picks cheaper but less effective option to fix SH2 through Waioweka Gorge A newly released business case shows the recommended option would cut closures by 53 percent while a full fix would cut them by 70 percent.

So the government has spent well over a billion dollars on planning and land acquisition for fantasy RONS we can never afford, but there's no money to properly secure SH2 through Waioweka Gorge, which is regularly closed by washouts. www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

Lockdown, vaccine decisions 'considered and appropriate' – Royal Commission The Covid-19 Royal Commission has broadly backed the decisions taken during the pandemic, while identifying areas for improvement.

The Covid-19 Royal Commission's second report has been published, I've read (almost) all of it and here are the key takeaways:

I have created a diorama of the Partridge family attacking the Brady Bunch family. My life is very boring.

Luxon: "What we're saying is, look, we're going to be closely monitoring the situation. We haven't yet had the legislation passed, and so that gives us optionality. It's unlikely at this point, but having said all of that, we don't want to, we want to preserve optionality about where we go with that.

Optionality. I didn’t know a word could actually make my skin crawl.

I read the memoir of a French actor who was at a dinner party with a shipping magnate who was all
"That doesn't pay very well, does it?"
Replied something like "Put it this way: if shipping didn't pay, would you keep doing it?"
After that they understood each other.
But also, yes the economics there

Tim Curry Breaks Down His Most Iconic Roles
YouTube video by The Academy Tim Curry Breaks Down His Most Iconic Roles

This is delightful which of course it is because it’s Tim Curry dammit but it contains two earth shattering revelations for the Curryverse and they are

1) he was considered for Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park

2) he read the screenplay for Silence of the Lambs and wanted to be cast as Hannibal Lector

The same principle applies to media trustworthiness. "All media is a bunch of liars and propagandists, you can't trust anyone" is a parallel belief, and you can see how active measures for disinformation try to advance this very belief

Just been looking at the β€œevidence” used for the Streeting Reviews to ban hormones. It is unbelievably thin.

Non-existent for non-binary kids, almost non-existent for trans girls, and only gets into double figures for trans guys.

These are not β€œreviews” they are fictions.

Like the Cass Review.

Lots of buzz online about an upcoming major March heatwave for the American SW & California. And in this case, it does indeed appear increasingly likely than an extremely anomalous and even record-breaking heatwave may envelop much of the SW about a week from now.

it would be the work of minutes for one of these guys to just reorder the same shoes in the right size without telling the Big Guy, but that would be defeating the purpose, which is to demonstrate a willingness to humiliate yourself the second he tells you to.
