You're my ESL inspiration. Writing is one thing, elegantly reading out loud without too many distracting pronunciations of random words is often next level for ESLs, but your fluency even in improvized, live settings never ceases to astound me. While at the same time saying stuff w/substance.

Trying to imagine what goes through the mind of a person generating this. Do they see themselves as a deceiver for a righteous cause? Or as someone smugly "hacking" humanity into their bidding? Do they trick themselves that they are just facilitating "lost visuals" for "stuff that surely happened"?

There is a mention to JJ in the credits due to the writing remaining unchanged from Roottrees 2023 to Roottrees 2025 or at least that is my understanding from what I read on an article earlier this year when it came out.

Well, I don't really mind whether it gets branded the same as E33, I have no idols to defend but AFAIK "they" didn't share a continuous workflow: they weren't even the same people. JJ made Roottrees 2023 and some time later Evil Trout asked for permission to remake it.

For the Roottrees thing, I wonder if the IGA didn't know or if they just considered the original 2023 jam game by Jeremy Johnston a different game than the 2025 remake by Evil Trout which fully changed UI and art while preserving the original's writing (and adding enhancements and an expansion)

You can find the game on Steam. Players step into the role of Val’ty, a 46-year-old mother from the Valtian species, a ruthless reptilian race that already exists in Vikintor’s wider universe. The story follows Val’ty and her small daughter as they try to destroy a huge human-made machine meant to “tame” wild aliens and turn them into obedient workers. Instead of pushing you down a straight path, VAL’TY uses a hub-based structure that rewards curiosity. After unlocking the main hub, you can choose which levels to play and return later to improve scores or search for hidden upgrades. Val’ty’s daughter is also always close by, but she is not a burden. She can be called in at any time to reach secret spots or help solve puzzles, avoiding the usual frustration found in escort missions. Combat is built around a single weapon, the Val’tygun, keeping fights tight and focused. This gun includes both a precise sniper mode and a powerful grenade launcher, asking you to fully master one tool instead of switching between many weapons. Outside of combat, the game leans into its playful and experimental side. Players can dance on city floors or ride the Val’tyboard, a movement system inspired by classic skateboarding games that adds speed and style to exploration.

Also, I live in a place where it doesn't often rain. Near the end of the game, I heard thunder IRL, it started to rain. I put the headphones back in only to hear in-game thunder and see myself transformed into a droplet of rain falling through the sky. How magical is that?

Finally played Atuel 🇦🇷 Great experience, short free game that feels similar to Journey in that it combines beautiful visuals/sounds with the feeling of connecting with humanity. Not in the same exact way Journey does it, but through the voices of real humans that also give it a documentary quality.

Richter here is a little bit excited. But I can't blame him! It's an awesome offer!
