(Your article is good about mentioning the actual percent changes, e.g. down 18% for assaults - the graphs just make the change look larger at first glance than 18%)

Just as a data visualization hygiene thing... 3/4 of those graphs don't anchor the vertical axis at 0 on the bottom, which means the trend / change is exaggerated relative to the magnitude of the actual data
