Last Saturday we welcomed the second cohort of our family history workshop participants back to our campus again for a consultation workshop.

The tastiest pasty l’ve ever had. Perfect way to wrap up my very fruitful research trip in Cornwall this week.
Heading home with lots of inspiration, useful research material for my next book, and even a wedding dress (not mine!). Now I just need to write the book!

A fantastic, engaging talk by @cmkwong.bsky.social last weekend on Hong Kong's WW2 experience! I don't like working on the weekend but having great talks like Chi Man's at our History Salon always makes me happy to come into work on Saturday afternoons.

This week's work with MHHK included finishing up the map of the 1920s and starting a new one on the 1840s as I continue to build out the starter kit. This has meant working with Adolphe Dubois de Jancigny's fantastic 1842 survey, which provides a very different profile of Hong Kong's shoreline.

An exciting lineup for our History Salons! John Wong of HKU is coming to Bristol, and will give a Cantonese talk on the past and present of HK's Linked Exchange Rate System. Come and join us on 17 May at 2:30pm if you're around Bristol!

It's tomorrow! Chi Man, leading expert in military history of HK who brilliantly incorporates DH and spatial history methods in his work, is giving a Cantonese community talk on the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong at our Centre tomorrow.
