lawyer followers, is it good if the judge calls your federal legal brief "a high school term paper"?

Read the ruling. It's from a Trump-appointed judge, and it's fucking scathing. ICE is lawless and must be abolished.
This footnote... man, DOJ is not sending whatever's left of its "best."
'UNIMAGINABLE CRUELTY': Judge Gary Brown, a Trump appointeee from NY, thrashes DHS' treatment of a man who came to the US at 9 as an abuse/neglect victim, has no criminal record and became a college grad.

correct, because people will have made poor choices.
that's the shitty part of democracy. shitty peoples' votes count the same as ours :/
the reality is that this is what the American people voted for, and now we are all getting it good and hard, and if this makes the Republican Party more toxic and results in more Democrats elected this November, that's the only path to fixing the problem.
03.03.2026 13:55 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The thing is that the only way for people to learn that what they voted for is bad, is to feel the effects of that badness.

Iran will be mostly (but not entirely!) out of offensive firepower by the end of the week one way or the other
Of course that also means we'll basically be out of useful targets to hit besides, I dunno, gatherings of goons, so
woof. tracked it down. instant unfollow. thanks.

Like, he would tear it into pieces and throw it in the garbage in front of all of us.
God bless Paul. Have no idea where I'd be or what I'd be doing if not for him.
(It was also fun because on occasion, if he sensed our morale flagging, Paul would pick a random other paper and critique it in front of class the same way he critiqued our paper - with colored sticky dots and acerbic wit. He took particular pleasure in tearing up the DVC Inquirer - literally.)
03.03.2026 04:52 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Yeah we got a bunch of other community college student papers mailed to us (and mailed ours out in return) - a great way to see what other good ideas everyone else is coming up with.

Paul DeBolt ran one of the tightest ships in the nation. All-time great. I was on half a dozen ACP Pacemaker-winning staffs and scored a Pacemaker Finalist in 2007, the year I was editor-in-chief. Took home runner-up Reporter of the Year and third-place Diversity Story of the Year too.

I was awoken by a phone call from the editor of The Contra Costa College Advocate. He said, "turn on the TV, then get in here."
I did reporting all day and wrote the lead story. We rebuilt the paper in hours and had it on the campus racks at 8am Sept. 12.
I was 11 days short of my 18th birthday.
yeah, this is a pretty perceptive point. Israel wants Iran to be another Syria and Lebanon - and that would be a disaster for the Iranian people.
