A poster showing 14 crabs of various shapes and colors

Got reminded by @jopabinia.bsky.social that this is the 1st anniversary of my poster showing the diversity of fossil crabs.

True crabs, false crabs, cute crab, long crab, pointy crab, crab in ammonite, we have it all. πŸ¦€ 🎨 🐑

Silhouette drawing in black ink of a cat sitting on a tuft of grass, facing left, with one forepaw raised, its head tilted back, and its mouth wide open as though emitting a cry. A circle of ink dots frames its head, halo-like.

It's #BlackCatAppreciationDay.
Granted, this one is a silhouette and it could theoretically be a cat of any colour, but...

two hominids; a neanderthal and a homo sapien, inside a cave. the wall of the cave is full of hand prints and doodle artworks. The two hominids place their hands on the wall, tracing the line of hand prints. they seems to be lost in their own reveries.

Sepia-toned, monochrome drawing of a unicorn in side view, standing in a field of tall grasses, facing right. The unicorn has a rich dappled coat and a gentle expression. Beyond it, a tree is framed in a roundel. The foreground grasses are drawn in negative, with the dark areas around and between them forming their shapes. The whole piece is small and intricate.

A herd of mammoths, with three large individuals up front, and lots of smaller, more distant individuals in the background, surrounding a shallow Pleistocene lake. They stand on browning, yellowing grass in front of a blue, partly cloudy sky. The mammoths are variable in colour, some being dark, some pale. A juvenile mammoth, blonde all over, has broken ranks and started chasing mallards around a pond. He has made a little grebe nervous. Why has this baby mammoth started attacking other species? Well, animals are a lot like people, Mrs. Simpson. Some of them act badly because they’ve had a hard life or have been mistreated. But, like people, some of them are just jerks.

New #paleoart posted to #Patreon: woolly mammoths around a duck-filled lake. Accompanying the hi-res and WIPs of this image is a discussion about mammoth colour: the uniform red-brown mammoths of classic palaeoart seem unlikely now. Check it out at www.patreon.com/posts/night-...
