Back during the Iran hostage crisis (1979 to 1981), a big thing at my junior high school was to sing the intro to "Barbara Ann" with the words changed to "Bomb Iran". Now, fast-forward to 2025, and we've actually done it. 🤔

I feel almost normal.

I am clean and fed.

I have enough pain meds to be mellow but not knocked out.

I have my Bible in my lap, a word game on my phone, and my laptop handy.

I have books at hand if I want to read.

I have cats wondering what I'm up to.

A tall tree in my neighbor's front yard.

Our next-door neighbor is a pretty fair dendroculturist. The front yard is the pretty part. (In the back, he's had to take down a bunch of trees.)

The evangelical religious bloc got him there. I just wish I had jumped that ship sooner than 2021.

1988 was a horrible fire season for all of the Northwest. I heard a blurb on the news about apple orchards in Eastern WA burning, and a couple days or so later, the smoky haze in Butte, MT (where I went to college) smelled like apples.

One year in Montana during a bad fire season, I stopped for a red light and wondered, "Why would the city put a second red light at this intersection?" Then I realized that the "second red light" was actually the setting sun. 🙄

When I was a kid, we had two cats (adolescent kitten brothers) who **thought** they owned the yard until they were on the receiving end of dive-bombing runs from the local crows. After that, the crows owned the yard until the bros finished growing up. 🤣
