I’m losing the thread here a bit, but to say you prefer Star Trek to Marvel because you don’t like Villains is like saying you like apples over oranges because you don’t want fruit with seeds in them.

even the MCU itself is kind of falling apart under the weight of what it created, but I think that has more to do with audience interests moving away from superheroes. Genres never stay in vogue forever - it’s not like we’re still getting the Vampire and Parody movies of the 00s

I do think the MCU did a lot of harm to Hollywood storytelling - every studio has tried to emulate the shared universe and half-humor and barrage of Easter eggs that they forget most audiences won’t catch - but heroes being heroic and villains being villainous ain’t something they’re responsible for

I was also just watching a review of Wicked: For Good that ket calling Elphaba a Marvel Super Hero™ and I…don’t know that I understand that? Is it cuz she’s wearing a costume and using powers and fighting people? Just like…the Wicked Witch did in the 30s?

As much of a MCU hater as I am, I don’t really understand it getting all the heat for film tropes that existed before it?

Like…*checks notes*…the existence of villains?

I do genuinely enjoy No Place Like Home though. That actually feels like a song that adds something that Act 2 was lacking. It ties the story back to why Elphaba started this fight while giving us some new insight to why she’s staying in it.
