Saw the 2nd Wicked and I don’t know… I was a bit underwhelmed. No show stopper songs meant they didn’t fully use the actors’ range. The scarecrow’s identity was extremely obvious, but they made it seem secretive. I’m no musical buff but I get why the ratings were mid despite all the money they made.

The thing about a ton of my favorite journalists and pundits like Johnathon Cohn, Liz Plank, and Matt Yglesias going full paid Substack for their writings is that I don’t want to pay for all them. If I pay I feel like I have to read every article so it creates more stress.

I’ve unfortunately become less informed as free media dies. There are a lot of good substacks out there but I don’t want to pay for all of them.

I’m excited that the Epstein files bill are being released but I don’t think it changes anything. Trump would never allow incriminating evidence on himself to be released. Maybe some other people get taken down or fired but he’s not going to let any harm come his way.

I think the redistricting wars are actually in Democrats favor at this point so far with Texas's map being blocked.

I think one of the reasons I love the #naruto manga and anime is the core theme is to keep coming back no matter what life throws your way. Not, never stop, but always get back up.

It’s gotten to the point where I’m scared for democracy. I had thought we’d muddle through Trump’s second term and pick up the pieces after, but this would functionally lock Dems out of winning the House. The senate already looks out of reach.

One of my favorite shows is Solar Opposites, a former Justin Roiland show (glad they fired him). It’s really gross but in season 1, Rainn Wilson’s character, CEO of AT&T, milks a mouse. Drinking mouse milk would kill humans. It’s basically condensed butter w/ a protein chaser. Massive renal failure.

Given the GOP tilt in the senate, swing states in the rust belt losing electoral votes in 2030, and losing 20 votes from gutting the VRA, is there even a chance that American democracy survives?
