woohoo, congratulations!

A couple years ago, it was discovering that any .ac.uk email had been pre-filtered. Trying to explain that's the ENTIRE UK academic suffix, being 'splained to that "its on a list of spam generators" and so IT refusing to allow those in. How many emails did I miss from colleagues? Will never know

This year's quality IT moment was explaining that U of Pennsylvania and U of Pittsburgh are not the same school

Heads up to PhD letter writers and to programs using My Liason system for grad letter submissions. I am not receiving any emails from Liason to my SFU address, even to reset my password. IT Services can't find anything; this happened last year also. You might need to go looking! #philsky #philsci

woohoo! I had a similar experience, though mine involved the "didnt notice about my kids because I was like that -> kids get diagnosed -> -> I get diagnosed" path. started adhd meds about 2 years ago. Like turning down the static volume knob. wish I had known sooner. good luck with the new meds!

Tidal is pretty awesome and much better for paying musicians

we had to do 2 "publishable quality papers" for comps and it was super useful, both because you had to level up from term paper writing to do it, and because some people discovered they actually hated writing papers like that and it was better to complete the master's and move on, than write a diss

I do have a bit in my talk for Friday about epistemic wrongs vs epistemic harms. Does it work for this case? Dunno, will think about it

me either. I met with this teacher once, who insisted all students do poorly in math going from grade 9 to 10, and without thinking I asked, doesnt that mean curriculum or pedagogy is going wrong, if it is this is systematic? Shoulda thought before saying it, probably made it worse for my kiddo

We're encountering at kid's high school, some math teachers who think it reflects well on them that so many of their students do poorly. frustrating as a parent and also as a prof who gets a lot of these students in college and have wondered why they seem so traumatized by anything formal
