What game mechanics from any games throughout history do you see as "revolutionary" in that they essentially created new game trends?

I'll start:

Rogue (1980) - Using randomly generated maps, and a "one life" dungeon crawler. Paving the way for games like Diablo, Darkest Dungeon, and Hades.
