Anyone can get the ashes - even at a Catholic church. It's not an obligation either. Some years I go, but I don't like to see them worn all day for status.

As to evangelicals, they pick and choose what they believe, which scriptures to emphasize, and which rituals to co-opt. lol

Low-T medicine is ruining this country. We send the young men to war because they are full of it. As you get older, it moderates, and you're theoretically supposed to gain wisdom. A high testosterone level is a wisdom blocker. JMO

These Dorothea Lange photos are a good view when people discuss the standard of living in this country today. Surely many have it rougher than others, and certainly things could be better, but there is no reason to think it's the worst of times. These pics are of our grandparents

People need to understand that there are decent people in many states between the coasts that would vote for decent people. Slogans like “Abolish ICE” isn’t going to get those votes. Doesn’t mean those folks want to detain kids.

Hard thinking like that might win certain districts but loses states.
