I have been a big proponent of 15 minutes of writing per day- especially for busy clinical academicians

as laid out in the book "How to write a lot" (a great and quick read)

We suffer from the idea that we need chunks of time to write

So with this 🧵 I will put my money where my mouth is

Like! My approach includes: no editing at the beginning. Just write. It’s okay to have bad punctuation or partial thoughts or add notes like LOOK UP REFERENCE HERE… just go with stream of consciousness at first, and when thoughts are written, you can work on the editing.

In the US, young and middle-aged women are being diagnosed with lung cancer at higher rates than men | CNN Susan Wojcicki, the late CEO of YouTube, had a message for the world just weeks before she passed away in August: “Lung cancer among people who have never smoked has been rising significantly.”

It's good that this is finally getting some broad attention. 20% of patients diagnosed with lung cancer have never smoked.

Of course, our society (and profession) also needs to stop "blaming" those who have smoked for their disease.
