Best time to read about England is when youβre not there
29.04.2025 08:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was delighted to write about the circuit I walk every night and what it means to me for @boundlessmagazine.bsky.social

If anything were to make me believe in a god, it would be watching a heron fly over.
19.04.2025 15:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I love how within a few days of the swallowβs arrival here we have our first rain in weeks. They know exactly what theyβre doing, probably without even knowing it.
12.04.2025 17:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I didnβt see them but I heard them. The swallows are back.
07.04.2025 17:42 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I finally sorted out my ALCS profile last year andβ¦if you havenβtβ¦do. You might get a very nice little surprise in your bank!

Thank you so.
22.03.2025 17:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ha! Personally, my aim is limited to writing as everything else went to shit a long time ago..
22.03.2025 16:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I reference this quote often. Always worth repeating, like a mantra
22.03.2025 16:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0At this point Iβm wondering if anyone whoβs ever had a book published has not found theirs on the LibGen search?
22.03.2025 14:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Trying here now: Iβm going back to Rome, this time with my husband. Last time, I remember wandering into a church, (sand/lime) stone, pretty spartan, no murals or frescos, with a domed ceiling with a hole to the sky. It wasnβt the Pantheon, does anyone know what it is?
21.03.2025 12:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Blue morning. Working on the bedroom windowsill today, accompanied by the quarrel of sparrows in the eves. Dawn gun shots from one of the farms in the distance. Skylarks singing in the cow field.
20.03.2025 08:59 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Listened to this Short Works while driving yesterday and it was such a fantastic piece of writing (brilliantly delivered by Carl Prekopp) I couldnβt wait to find out whoβs written it. Only to discover itβs my mate @tomvowler.bsky.social! Itβs so worth a listen:

Wow. Beauty. That is some top moor action.
19.02.2025 17:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Sounds like a phenomenal plan.
19.02.2025 16:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A good 200 or so ravens kawing over the field a tractorβs running through, then kawing back to their roost in the graveyard. The first Dutch-spotted lambs in the fields . Snowdrops, crocuses and the accidental daff. A tuft of fox fur on the verge. Itβs grey out, but I like it.
19.02.2025 16:35 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Can anyone recommend good essay comps to keep eyes peeled for (other than Fitzcorraldoβnot eligible)? Have some not-pitchable bits Iβd like a reason to turn into thingsβ¦
14.02.2025 10:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs like the bloody stars are aligning or something xx
14.02.2025 10:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0BIG NEWS.
Absolutely delighted to announce that my debut novel, Keshed, is going to be publishing in the autumn with @ortacpress.bsky.social one of the freshest, most interesting and eclectic indies on the scene. What a delight to have two books on the way with such a great press π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯
Go Stu!!!
31.01.2025 18:16 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Amazingly, just shy of 1000 of you loaned Hermit out from the library over the past year!!
Also spotted in @heffersbookshop by my sister @cctranslates and my friend in @Tate - thank you so much!
Iβve seen some beautiful things in a Lidle carpark - remember watching the super moon rise there last year. Theyβve got some spots.

Just finished reading this part memoir part exploration of solitude & those who choose to live alone. Really enjoyed it & highly recommended! @jadeafitton.bsky.social
Thank you so much, Mark!
25.01.2025 12:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think (aside from lack of solar power) the problem is always that tantalising strip. It was just grey from heaven to earth here today. It was so still too. Leant a kind of eeriness Iβm always up for!
11.12.2024 17:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0No sunset. No wind. Only late-in-the-day sounds of heavy machinery and cackling jays beneath a lid of grey.
11.12.2024 16:37 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Feeling simultaneously blessed and frustrated that who we are seen as as/become as writers depends so much on what others will commission. Obvious, I know. Merciful in many cases. Still, wish there were more ways to get our (better) weirder stuff out there. I want more weird.
06.12.2024 10:06 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Calvinoβs βIf On A Winterβs Night A Travellerβ discussed on this weekβs In Our Time. In 2019 I wrote about the novelβwritten before Gibson uttered the words βcyber spaceββand how it inadvertently anticipated the advent of the AI author
