A woman sits on her bed looking fatigued and unhappy. She is engulfed by an exaggerated shadow cast on her by the evening light shining upon a desk in the foreground of the image, on which are several important letters and bills.

A double page spread from issue 73 of Breathe magazine, with illustrations surrounding the text. On the first page we see a to-do list written in a small notepad. On the second page we see a character working on these tasks. The images are broken into panels, with white gutters separating the illustration into different frames. The frames are separated to section off each of the tasks written on the to-do list on the previous page. The panels depicting each task or item to be addressed have a different level of contrast/saturation relative to their position on the to-do list - task number 1 has the most contrast and saturation whereas task 4 has the least.

Pottering in the Potteries: exploring the museums and ceramics studios of Stoke-on-Trent As a new series of The Great Pottery Throwdown hits the screens, an honorary Stokie explores Josiah Wedgwoodโ€™s legacy and the six towns โ€“ and gets some clay on her hands

As an honorary Stokie, I loved writing this feature about Stoke-on-Trent for the Guardian, highlighting some of the places that make Stoke so special. And I canโ€™t wait to see how the city celebrates its centenary year. www.theguardian.com/travel/2025/...

I'm so looking forward to running this online course in the new year on all things freelance feature writing. There are a few spaces left, and you don't need to live in the West Midlands to take part! More info & booking at: writingwestmidlands.org/events/onlin...

Mince pie, coffee and writing session this afternoon. Itโ€™s a hectic time so it was nice to carve out a little time for myself - and Iโ€™m starting to feel Christmassy!

It's a slightly strange feeling writing my first post on here. It's making me remember all the social media accounts I've used over the years - the days of Bebo, MySpace etc (anyone else feel this too?). So this is me posting into the void that will hopefully soon not be a void.
