While I was napping Joel Embiid went for 70 points in an NBA game and Karl Anthony Towns put up 62 points BUT LOST to the Charlotte Hornets, which I’m pretty sure is a team comprised of scarecrows!

An overlooked part of that insane Joel Embiid game was that he did it in front of Brett Brown, who is part of the Spurs organization.

Was cool to see Brett be one of the first people to come over and congratulate Joel after the game. #Sixers

Appreciating Joel Embiid is complicated, and that's unfortunate Joel Embiid is doing things that no other human his size can do, and he's doing it every night. Even as he flirts with history, appreciating him is complicated.

You're not wrong to be out on Joel Embiid until he authors a signature playoff moment.

You're not wrong to think he's the best player in the NBA.

But, ring culture has made appreciating him complicated.

And that's unfortunate.
