I know there are a lot of "what could've been?" with musicians that died young but for some reason Aaliyah songs always hit me with that question the hardest. I think it's because you so rarely hear her music compared to other musicians we lost too soon. Her voice was stunningly beautiful IMO.

There's a woman near me in the park speaking Portuguese. I love the sound of Portuguese.

In an effort to train for a marathon, I've been running every Sunday and increasing my run by 5 min each week. After today's run, I'm saying 75 min is where nipple irritation starts for me. Going to need to tape over them next week.

How is it that I just learned - today - that you can edit WhatsApp posts after you send them. I feel so behind the times. All those typos I noticed seconds after sending messages didn't need to be.

I've travelled internationally enough with my kids that I find myself leaving them (age 12 and 8) as I meander the airport for 15-20 min by myself, in a country we don't live in, or speak the language.

My nephew's birthday is tomorrow. It'll be the first birthday I've been in the same area as him since the day he was born in 1988. He was a twin but his brother only lived a few days. Because of that, I'm not sure how he feels about birthdays and don't know how much of a deal I should make about it.

My feet have swollen the last 2 trips I've made to Ghana. I don't remember this happening when I came in 2016 or earlier. I wonder if it's age related. Very strange to look down and see feet that don't quite look like mine.

I'm sure I've turned my kids off of organised religion when their first time in any kind of religious service was the 3+ hour Palm Sunday service we went to today that was delivered in Twi, a language they don't understand at all (I understand to some degree). And it was sweltering hot. Yay God!

Modern fatherhood is hand washing your daughter's period underwear while travelling without it being a big deal for the daughter, who finds her dad to be embarrassing most of the time.

The kids play area in the Amsterdam airport has outlets on every table but none of them work. Why go to the trouble to have electrical outlets if they can't be used?

As a follow-up to my last post, you know your kid's Scottish when the first thing they say when getting home is to complain about how hot it is outside. It was 15C (59F).

For some reason, anytime I hear a Sabrina Carpenter song, I start shoulder dancing. I have no idea why. I don't even know what she looks like. But her songs have this weird effect on me.
