It's been a bit of a week, so I haven't posted anything for #DLDday. But go and see what my amazing research team have been doing over at @edldproject.bsky.social and @sounds-project.bsky.social! We had a bake sale for @radld.bsky.social on Tuesday and made £82. Will aim for £100+ in 2026!

🚨 Only 3 days until #DLDday!💜💛 We were lucky enough to have Abraz Hussain come to speak with our older students about his personal experience of #DLD.

Despite challenges, Abraz is a qualified social worker. His key message: 💬 "There’s no shame in asking for help."

Apologies if this explanation is confusing! It is a fascinating finding and paper, with positive and potentially adaptive findings about adolescents with #DevLangDis. Lead author Dr Claire Forrest, co-authors @drjennyg.bsky.social, Kate Button and Sarah Halligan. Published in JADD.

They took longer to learn the general rule they were disliked, meaning they paid more attention than adolescents without #DevLangDis to the 20% correct positive words in this condition. This difference was found in both the "self" and "other" condition.

So we found no general social evaluative learning deficit. But adolescents with #DevLangDis struggled to learn they were disliked. For each trial a positive and negative word were shown. In the dislike condition, 80% of negative words were "correct" and only 20% of the positive words were "correct".
