A life-size granite statue of Popeye the harbor seal rests atop a weathered rock in a small grassy park in Friday Harbor, Washington. The sculpture captures her mid-swim with flippers tucked close to her sides and tail curled upward, as if gliding through water. Her left eye inlaid with smooth white stone, faithfully capturing the cloudy eye that made Popeye so unmistakably her. Behind the statue is a shaded picnic area with dark green tables under a wooden pavilion, stone walls, and dense forest greenery. A brass plaque honoring Popeye sits quietly off to the side.
