I think the tension between Product and Engineering boils down to one thing:

Product thinks they are producing the next season of “Grand Designs.”

Meanwhile Engineering knows its reruns of “This Old House.”

When I’m interviewing I have a neat trick to sus out the culture really quick:

Ask the interviewer “when was the last time you were paged?”

If they look at their watch, run.

Now don’t get me wrong here.

I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with Twitter.

Because I would never say that.
