The word of season...at least for earnings reports @ S&P 500 Consumer Discretionary companies is #Tariffs
Mentioned on 31 of 36 earnings conference calls this quarter as of Tuesday's close, or 83% of them. Up from 73% in 1Q2025 & less than 10% a year ago.

The pic you replied to was NOT from the site of the 1936 US Open, which was the Upper Course @ Baltusrol in NJ...pic I took was Sleepy Hollow in NY.
BUT '36 champion Tony Manero did call Greenwich, CT home as did Donovan Mitchell who went to Greenwich Country Day pre high school
There are other pics that give it away pretty quickly…but this one shows one of the tougher finishing holes in golf…we’re both lucky to have gotten to play this place…the redesign has made an awesome course even better 👍

- It's market value is now roughly 2x Cisco Systems...4x Applied Materials...10x General Motors.

What a crazy round trip in roughly 1 month's time...the S&P 500 has now gotten back everything it lost since the Trump #tariffs announcement on April 2...from a nearly 15% drop to the trough (intraday 4/7) to a 17% gain from there 👇

totally...that's why I keep checking these OEM websites...to see if there's any real change in the price of a driver or a set of irons? Nothing that I can see right now...but who knows when that will change? Right now, new, high end stock drivers are $650. What will they be3-6 mos from now? A year?

I did a quick check on websites for Callaway, TaylorMade & Titleist. Some OEMs assemble in Mexico & ship to US from there.

Was doing a little digging around on eBay...for golf shoes...just to see if there were any really big price changes due to #Tariffs.
Not sure if it's a new feature...but you can actually filter by "Country of Manufacture"
Notable how many listings are made in China vs. USA vs. "not specified"
would LOVE to see stuff like that...not saying it would necessarily affect my purchase decision...but it would totally satisfy my curiosity about what stuff REALLY costs, and how many "intermediaries" take their cuts 🤔

I would welcome efforts by any company to provide more price transparency...it only helps consumers make more educated decisions, knowing what goes into the price they pay for goods & services...
But that's just me...what do you think?
