From my experience from when I used to sell computers the average user doesn’t even know what an OS is.

90% of people just want a web browser and maybe a document editor, but those same people are scared to try anything other than they’re already familiar with so wouldn’t even touch a Chromebook.

I know it’s easy to dunk on Microslop at the moment, with rumours of Win 12 being a subscription, and say “Linux’s time is now!” but unless your local Best Buy/Currys/etc starts selling machines with Linux preloaded Windows isn’t going anywhere.
