Since Sir Terry Pratchett isn’t writing anymore (unless Death gives him a pass back, just for laughs), I highly recommend Joe Abercrombie’s THE DEVILS, which combines humor and eccentric world-building in a way Sir Terry fans will enjoy. My best read since JONATHAN STRANGE AND MR NORRELL.

Final weekend of the run of HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES. I feel ambivalence, due to the stresses of the show, but the upside is that Orlando Shakespeare Theater is pocketing a good amount of cash due to brisk ticket sales. I hope this isn't the last thing I ever perform at OST.

Sitting in the MK train station, watching some of the heaviest sustained rain I’ve seen, I am pleased to see the people around me mostly laughing and making jokes about being soaked.
Many are getting their pictures taken in the deluge, arms out, and beaming.
This is encouraging.

I have noticed LOUD EATING during our performances, which violates not only the policy of Orlando Shakes (drinks yes, food no, during performance), but also feels shockingly rude to the people sitting around the wrapper-mangling noise. This is not what I grew up with.

My local Aldi used to have six self-service checkout stations; they have all been removed, with human cashiers now the only option. This is probably not from Aldi‘s desire to employ more people, but rather to stem losses from constant theft at the self-checkouts!
