It should be warned in uni that becoming an archaeologist would have you spoiling films for your friends. No one wants to hear about the odd choice of armours Gladiator 2 or Pedro Pascal's spatha, let alone skipping over Septimius Severus and invading Numidia 250 years after it was annexed.

ROYSCast will be returning in the new year, but until then all our previous episodes are available here and on all other podcast providers

Gladiators of Britain
Some of the country's most iconic Roman objects tell the story of the spectacle, violence and drama of Britain's gladiatorial arenas.
With the release of Gladiator II, if you or anyone you know wants to learn more about it without flying to Rome, a touring exhibition on the Gladiators of Britain starts in Jan at Dorset Museum, featuring the only piece of Gladiator armour to be found in the UK!
