i hope my missus likes the one i got for her!
of all the football fans out there, I genuinely think newcastle's fans are the thickest there are, by quite some distance.
think back to henderson's last game and how well he did. most football fans can't think back that far.
i only read paddy's articles. the rest of it is irrelevant to me, and some of the writer's when paddy's not around are really poor both in research and composition.
i've said it before - i go to your website first - every day - because i can trust the content, its well researched & well written.
a whirlwind of whippets!

10.08.2025 19:07 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0thinking back to that ajax team, the role of neeskens cant be underestimated. not only was he just about on a par with cruijff technically - he was the hardest man on the pitch and he allowed total football to become what it did.
he was the cog that made the whole machine work
richard wrights career after he left everton went on for about another 12 years where he was sub goalie and won a few premiership medals too i think
10.08.2025 17:49 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0i never said you did say any of that. however, total football was michels and kind of stopped being a thing when that ajax team broke up. it was very much the first of its kind. i loved it, still do really.
10.08.2025 17:42 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0tactical fouling was a big part of cruijff's 'dream team'. yes they pressed like maniacs, but they also did all the tactical fouling - the aim was to completely disrupt the opponent. it worked fabulously for a time.
10.08.2025 17:22 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0total football was rinus michels in the 1970's and was more to do with players playing in any position on the park so even if they were out of position they could adapt easily and could overwhelm opponents when the centre half popped up in midfield and the midfielder was an accomplished striker...
10.08.2025 17:21 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0his signing was weird. it got villa into the champions league mind - but for city - it was weird. but as you say - guardiola simply goes and spunks another load of cash, because he can, he's got a cheat mode club and uses it fully to his advantage.
10.08.2025 17:14 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0this is true. right now our creativity is almost non-existent.
as you say it depends entirely on whether grealish is up for it. if he's outstanding for everton - does he get his england place back? i think there's a role for him in the england squad if he can. he's "different". can moyes exploit it?
sadly diving is a part of the game now, and its entirely the fault of the referees who allow it (no-one can tell me they don't see it, they do and choose to ignore it).
i hate it but thats football today.
interesting discussion this. my take, will he deliver the assists/goals that justifies the outlay? i can't see it. thats based on how he plays, how everton play and the fact that he likes to draw the foul or make the play in a tight space. is that what everton need? i dont think it is.

i'm gonna say that's another weird combo. i can get the whole chocolate middle - but coffee? that's an odd choice.
did it taste like the revels "coffee" flavour, or something else?
so, did ANYONE get a bad view yesterday? I'm not having that every single one of the crowd had a great view, that's unpossible!
10.08.2025 12:44 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0ok so you can have 1 grealish or 2 dcl's .... choose one option, but choose wisely?!?
10.08.2025 12:42 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0cant argue there - the fallout would be hilarious.
his missus would have a ball too. her and neal maupay had the fans on toast.
i would because we have a limited budget and that includes wages.
10.08.2025 12:37 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0any time he had a one on one with the keeper i knew he couldnt take it - he would hit the keeper every single time. no idea why and i wonder if it was psychological?
150k a week means you can beat the keeper every time.
what i dont want is a repeat of how we signed the icelandic fella. swansea saw us coming and took us to the cleaners (rightfully).
with this 'best in class' transfer team now, i really hope they don't get rinsed by southampton.
yup - if players sign on a free thats mega wages. i dont know how he can guarantee his fitness for a season. his history shows that is the major issue.
i feel bad for him. on his day - he was alright. its just those days were few and very far between.
yup. exactly that.
i remember when he had a year or 18 months left how it was all champions league teams waiting to offer him.
his fitness is the downfall. feel bad for him in a way.
like the old boxers used to say "i coulda been a contender".
he'd find a level there but i dont know about wages. i think he could get double figures at celtic or rangers if he stayed fit....
