This also applies to microbiology training in my experience. Initial overwhelm often followed by disproportionate confidence once antibiotic choices feel more familiar. The FRCPath exams are definitely a potent driver of the "I'll never understand this!" stage

Today is the big day for Notifiable Diseases in England. Eight (8) diseases today join the list of those that doctors in England are required to notify suspected cases of to @ukhsa.bsky.social.

Glad to see this article being challenged - the idea that no one has noticed a flourishing brain microbiome including staphylococci and streptococci, which are readily cultured and identified, really stretches credulity!

Thanks for sharing - this is really interesting, I think we have a signal for older children being affected by Strep intermedius infection locally here in London - hopefully will be publishing soon. ENT/neurosurg interface another area for more work!
