Schlossberg: If this becomes the new normal and the president is able to trademark America’s birthday and issue his own currency while weakening the dollar, having gold skyrocket, and increasing prices on every commodity and input cost in our economy, we’re getting screwed and he’s getting rich.

I don't think you have to Nostradamus to figure that bombing Iran might raise oil prices. And it seems pretty obvious that buying oil in advance of causing an oil price spike might just save Americans a lot of money. But...

...maybe there wasn't much planning?

#6. Trust Is Transactional β€” And It’s Broken
I asked what qualities would prove that a politician actually understands their lives.

The answers were simple.

Be authentic. Show up. Know what groceries cost.

β€œThere’s people that really have to make the decision β€” am I going to pay rent or am I going to get groceries? Politicians are paid. A lot of them don’t understand that the things of the day-to-day life don’t really apply to them.”

A third of the room raised their hands when I asked if they had personally faced the choice between rent and food.

A grocery store manager who leans Democrat put the representation gap into words:

β€œMost politicians, they’re from Columbia University or Duke University… most people didn’t go to those kinds of schools. Maybe it would be better if someone was there who had a more general experience.”

These young people aren’t asking politicians to say the right things.

They’re asking them to have lived the right things.

John Della Volpe's focus groups with gen Z are always worth reading:

Bhattacharya loves his anti-vax pals almost as much as he loves railing against the β€œpoliticization” of science.

And he loves that almost as much as he loves blaming scientists for the loss of public trust in vaccines.

Note this is being shared by Children’s Health Defense, Kennedy’s old group.

There are a lot of posts out there with the close-up visual of Markwayne Mullin on January 6, but this is a better perspective.

He’s not protecting others; he’s protecting himself and hiding. You can see plenty of people at the entry door, ready to take on the insurrectionists, but not Markwayne.

Eyeing Voting Rights, Liberals Aim to Secure Wisconsin’s Supreme Court through 2030 - Bolts After flipping the court in 2023, Wisconsin liberals now hope to expand their majority on a body that could be a critical backstop for voting rights during the next presidential election.

NEW: Believe it or not, it’s that time of year: the Wisconsin Supreme Court election is next month.

Liberals have a huge opportunity: if they win, they can lock down the majority of this court thru 2030.

That means they’d have it in the next presidential race, a big democracy guardrail.
