Totally agree @bittner-ass.bsky.social knowing STM or tunneling is not needed to understand AFM, but it doesn't hurt either, and helps explanning AFM from a historical point of view.

Today is a special day. I'm training my sister to do AFM. We studied physics together (she is younger, but clever than me, so she got promoted one year ahead), but after that, we took diferent roads. Today these different paths in life merge a bit.
